She:kon! My name is Kayla Brant, I am Wolf Clan; I was born and raised in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, Ontario my entire life.
I am very happy to be a part of the team for Kenhtè:ke Midwives, Kontinenhanónhnha Tsi Tkahà:nayen. My educational background has been dedicated to Social Service work; I have a strong connection to youth and families and being in a supportive role to my community. I graduated from Loyalist College, and after graduation, I was blessed with the birth of my own 4 children; 2 boys and 2 girls!
My work experience includes working in and out of our Kenhtè:ke community in such capacities as home visiting for families with children ages 0-6, as well as working with and supporting our Youth in the community.
My journey to becoming a Doula began with experiences of my own in growing our amazing family. We’ve experienced very different births with each of our children, and through this I feel that I’ve learned a lot and have gained a lot of knowledge around birth including the amazing things our bodies are capable of. I hope to share this experience with other Moms to help them learn and grow together.
Some of my other interests include, reading, playing with the kids, sports and mostly family. I whole-heartedly believe in the Traditional Midwifery Model of Care and the empowerment that women can experience when given the choice to birth in the way that is right for them.
